13/03/2026 Vader presented with a broken nail o came home last night to some blood on the floor and Vader was licking at the foot he is still in good form just trying to lick at wound eating well but o fasted this morning last meal at 8pm last night according to owner in general Vader has nails that grow in strange directions and are not very straight - has always been that way on exam the nail on front left leg is very long and at an angle - vader yelped when touching the nail - it is very loose on the digit but still adhered enough that removal without sedation would be unethical sedated with 0.1ml of medetomidine (10umg/kg) and buprenorphine 0.7ml (.3mg/kg) topped up with a further (0.05ml) 5umg/kg after 15mins placed catheter and gave 0.8ml alfax iv the area was clipped and cleaned and the nail removed, we also clipped all other nails. cleaned the affected area metacam 0.43ml was injected subcut and reversal was given
