Medicine Hx - gaba
Appetite - normal

mobility getting better
changes direction quickly aka when finding good toilet spot then gets abit wobbly but otherwise o very happy with her progress
walking around well .
leg not knuckling when urinating anymore
crate resting and dog is doing well
not squealing out in pain ever
Examination -
Attitude - BAR
Temperature - not indicated
Heart - HR. Murmur - none heard
RR - 24
Other key findings = still delayed proprioception L hind but drastic improvement . walking fairly well just slight ataxic hind end falling to L side slightly.
Assessment - clinically improved IVDD
Problem List - still L hind mildly effected but much improved - fortunately seems sx wont be required this time
Discussed - hopefully will get 100% improvement but not always. been licking bottom abit - offered to check AG , o will add some sweet potato to diet and revisit if concerned . may need use gaba here and there in future if needed if dog were to tweak back etc and rest dog ASAP in future if notice slightly 'grumpy' or sore
Treatment Plan - Continue another ~2-4weeks crate rest and gaba . essentially continue 2wks after dog is near 100%
Prescriptions(on-going) - gaba 6 months

History -
- Improved a lot, able to walk and support herself now but back legs still occasionally give way
- Owner has been following strict cage rest, carries her out to the toilet only
- Has been trying to jump
- EDUD fine
- No V+/D+
How has disease progressed? - Markedly improved
Medicine Hx - Meloxicam SID, Gabapentin 1/2 capsule BID
Appetite - Good
Toileting - Normally
Examination -
Attitude - BAR
Temperature - Not indicated
Heart - HR. Murmur - No murmur or arrythmia audible
RR - Normal rate and effort
Other key findings = No pain on palpation of spine, able to walk in consult but still delayed proprioception both hindlimbs (L worse than R), anal tone present
Assessment - IVDD markedly improved, now grade 2
DDx - Type 1 vs type 2
Discussed - Happy with improvement but need to continue with strict cage rest for AT LEAST another 4 weeks, otherwise can end up back at square one. Continue with meloxicam for another 2 weeks given no V+/D+ and gabapentin ongoing. If any concerns or decline let us know.
Treatment Plan -
- Strict cage rest at least another 4 weeks, then recheck
- Meloxicam SID
- Gabapentin BID
Prescriptions(on-going) - Gabapentin (O had another 20 capsules left, told him he can pick up more if he runs out)
