06/03/2026 Reason: excisional biopsy

History:
Owners note the emergence of small dermal mass over medial aspect of LHL (at level of distal tibia). Dog has been EDDU normally. No V+ or D+.

Current Medications:
Nil.

Examination:
Vitals all WNL (consult smartflow for details).
Integument: small (approx. 4mm diameter), pigmented, mobile, non-painful mass over medial aspect of LHL (at level of distal tibia). Location confirmed with owner on admission.

Laboratory:
PCV: 49%

Assessment:
Patient appears stable and in suitable condition for G.A.

Treatment:
methadone: 0.3mg/kg I.M.
medetomidine: 0.01mg/kg I.M.
alfaxalone: I.V to effect
intubated with cuffed size 9 ET tube, maintained on isoflurane/O2
meloxicam: 0.2mg/kg S.Q. ----> 0.1mg/kg P.O. S.I.D PRN (for up to 4 days if required)

Surgery:
Elliptical excision parallel with line of tension. 20mm lateral margins. Deep margin: 1 fascial plane. Closed in single layer: 3/0 horizontal intradermal. Uneventful anaesthetic and awakening. Sample fixed, and submitted to vetnostics. 

Bandage:
opsite; melolin; tegaderm

Plan:
Bandage to remain in place for minimum of 12hrs
Copper body suit in lieu of e-collar for next 10 days
Re-assessment if any pain/swelling/discharge/inappetance/lethargy
Further diagnostics/intervention (if required) to be informed by pending pathology results.

Cooper is doing so well at home. EDDU is all normal. No signs of v+ or d+
O is very thankful to FB and nursing team for looking after Cooper.
