PRESENTING COMPLAINT:
Dog Fight Wounds 

HISTORY:
Bright and healthy
Eating and drinking welll
Owner says she was attacked by a Border Collie approximately 30 minutes ago 
Owner say she has flushed the wound with some water 

CLINICAL FINDINGS: Mentation: BAR - nervous HR: RR = panting  MM = pink CRT < 2 secs Temp = 

Chest - wound located on right side of chest - approximately 3cm in length 

PROBLEM LIST:
Dog Fight Wound 

OPTIONS PROVIDED:
1. Sedation, clip and clean wound and take to regular vet tomorrow for stitch up
2. Sedation and clean wound and staple 
3. GA, surgically debride wound and suture 

Owner has elected option 3 

TREATMENT:
Methadone injection 0.6ml SC 
Acepromazine injection 0.19ml SC 
Anaesthesia: alfaxan injection 2ml slow IV 
Intubated with size 8ET tube and maintained on isoflurane 2% 

Surgery: surgically debrided wound edges 
Sutured SQ tissue closed using 2-0 PDS with simple continuous sutures 
Sutured skin closed using 2-0 PDS with simple interrupted sutures 

AFTERCARE: 
Clavulox 250mg - Give 1 tablet PO BID until course complete - start tonight 
Meloxicam oral - Give dose for 19kg dog PO SID with food - start tonight 
Trazadone 100mg - Give 1 tablet PO BID if required - start tonight 
Recommend to keep buster collar on at all times until stitches out in 14 days 
Recommend to revisit if wound becomes red, discharge present 
Recommend to avoid any running / jumping / chasing ball / playing with other dogs etc for next 14 days
