seizure last night - went to sash

hx
approx 11:30pm seizured for 20-30s, awoke jumped off the bed and seizured -stiff in the living room
urinated at the time
taken to SASH for PE only, recommended bloods at regvet, booked tentatively for MRI for intracranial causes
gave a gabapentin overnight as was a little unsettled when taken back home

pe
mm pink and moist, crt1-2s
eyes and ears grossly normal - ears slightly waxy
oral examination wnl, submandibular LNs wnl
chest and heart auscultation wnl
abdo palp comfortable
hips and knees ok

assessment
seizures - extra-cranial vs intracranial. given age most likely idiopathic epilepsy though cannot fully exclude toxin ingestion

plan
TAHP taken- FT to call with results tomorrow
recommend monitor for now, no meds, determine seizure interval/trend 
can consider MRI if seizures persisting +/- poorly responsive to meds but reasonable to hold on this for now

Re Disability pensioner Mr Lai's dog Mulan registration fees. He was unable to make it to the clinic prior to the 6 months due to transportation issues. The dog was desexed at the first available appointment.

Notes: Phone call - O called with support worker - they were at the pet reg office at the time of the call hoping to register Mulan. O wanted a letter from Midson Rd Vet explaining why Mulan was not desexed until after 6 months old as he does not wish to pay the fee. I checked Mulan's history and could not find written anywhere that we had refused to desex Mulan until she was over 6 months. Therefore, I informed them that we were unable to issue a letter at this time as we did not have anything written in our history that would indicate why Mulan was not desexed prior to 6 months of age, but that they were welcome to call back after 4:30pm when GB will be out of surgery and available to talk. - KF 24/01/24
