History: was found at bottom of paddock seizuring - was there for about an hour ?? - clients havent seen a snake today but have them and dog has been given snake antivenom for prev envenomation , also had prev had seizures from cane toad envenomation as well , clients were on way to REDVETS - had already contacted them but were concerned dog was dying so came to our clinic as walk inExamination: seizuring - grand mal , congested mm , hypersalivation , hyperthermic (temp 39.9 - unclear if overheated as found out in the sun - secondary to exposure and seizures ?? ) ,tachypnoea loose stools on ground near her Laboratory: Pt 16.8 , Aptt 106.5 - both normal Bloods run show ( stress ?) Hyperglycaemia 17.7 , ALT 165 (88) , AST 74 (50) Assessment: responded to anticonvulsant , iv fluids and cooling , clotting times normal at presentation , unknown cause of seizures - discuss giving tiger brown in case was cause and then referring on for further care - client would prefer to let REDVETS give antivenom and resume care as originally were going there Treatment: iv placed and given pamlin 1m iv - commenced iv fluids and masked oxygen , repeat pamlin then given 0.36ml phenobarbitone slow iv - seizures and nystagmus stopped , temp came down to normal once seizure activity contained .
