Owner present: KatieHistory:O wondering re hips, became hesitant to go up the stairs. Goes on short walks as she overheats.Is otherwise well, EDDU normally, is UTD with flea/tick/worming at home. O thought she had HW test and injection about 1yr ago but there is no record of this here. AS checked the file as well. Possibly overdue for vaccs as according to our records last vacc was Sept 2024.Owner also concerned about "rapid overheating" on short walks (15 minutes in 19C weather). Seems to pant andPMHx: Skin allergies, managed with Cytopoint injection in June 2025.Environmental history: Lives in an apartment, short walks due to overheating. Does not go to dog parks but interacts with a few known dogs.E:- BAR, well behaved.- HR 100, panting, no audible murmur, Lungs clear on auscultation.- Weight: 22.3 kg. Body condition score suggests 2-3 kg weight loss is ideal.- Musculoskeletal: Hip examination reveals good range of motion, no pain or crepitus on palpation. Stifles and hocks also have good ROM and no crepitus. Normal muscle mass.- Oral: Teeth appear good, no significant issues noted despite no brushing.- Eyes and ears: Normal.Assessment & Plan:1. Overweight- Assessment: Current weight 22.3 kg, target weight 19-20 kg.- Treatment plan: Weight loss of 2-3 kg recommended to improve mobility and reduce overheating.- Panting (even heavily) is normal for dogs when walking provided they are not lethargic, collapsing or having trouble breathing.2. Vaccination Status- Assessment: Last C5 vaccination was in September 2024.- Treatment plan: C5 vaccination (oral component) and kennel cough vaccination administered today.- Follow-up recommendations: Recheck in one month for kennel cough booster if previous vaccination was over a year ago. O to check records at home. Slight overvaccination not an issue if already up to date today.3. Heartworm Prevention- Assessment: Owner reports a heartworm injection approximately 12-18 months ago (June 2025) but records are not found in the system. Low risk of infection as no travel to bushland areas.- Declined heartworm injection today. Owner to check records at home.4. Skin Allergies- Assessment: Well-managed with Cytopoint injection in June 2025 and weekly bathing routine.- Treatment plan: Continue current management.5. Dental Health- Assessment: Good dental health despite lack of brushing, likely due to abrasive action of raw carrots.- Treatment plan: Continue providing raw carrots. Advised to monitor for large pieces getting stuck.Additional Notes:- Discussed that weight loss may improve mobility and reduce overheating.- Advised that if mobility worsens or becomes consistently poor, X-rays would be indicated.- Counselled on post-vaccination monitoring for signs of mild upper respiratory tract infection (runny nose, cough) or gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhoea) for the next 24 hours.- Advised to seek urgent veterinary attention for signs of an allergic reaction such as facial swelling or hives.
