<html><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><p>Patient Information:<br>- Jude<br>- German Shepherd<br>- Male<br>- 05/03/2026<br><br>Subjective:<br>- Right front leg lameness, swelling around first joint<br>- Onset: yesterday morning after chasing ball at high speed<br>- Worsened by afternoon, less active<br>- Limp more pronounced at home prior to visit<br>- High pain tolerance, still weight-bearing<br>- No previous issues with this leg<br>- Desexed, yearly vaccinations with visiting vet<br>- Morning wheezing since puppyhood, sleeps through night<br>- No excessive drinking except after play<br>- Lives on large property<br><br>Objective:<br>- Weight: ~42kg<br>- Swelling around right front first joint<br>- Old cut on outside of leg<br>- Subtle lameness observed on walking off<br>- Anxious, difficult to fully palpate<br>- No kidney issues known, heart sounds healthy per previous vet<br><br>Assessment &amp; Plan:<br>1. Right Front Leg Lameness - Likely Sprain<br>- Working diagnosis: soft tissue injury/sprain<br>- Meloxicam: double dose day 1 (84kg dose rate), then 42kg dose rate daily<br>- Do not give if not eating<br>- Confinement for 1 week, no walks<br>- Fish oil tablets recommended<br>- Recheck after completing Meloxicam course<br>- If not improving, imaging (X-rays) under sedation may be required<br>- Gradual increase in activity if responding well<br><br>Additional Notes:<br>- Counselled on meloxicam administration: draw up to weight marker on syringe, squirt onto food<br>- Counselled on meloxicam nephrotoxicity<br>- Counselled on potential for upset stomach, though uncommon in German Shepherds<br>- Does not need to be given with food but should not be given if not eating</p></html>
