History: JD, a 7-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, presented for a C5 vaccination, and assessment of one lump. He has a history of a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) repair and a low pain threshold.Clinical signs/progression: A lump below the anal gland was first noticed by the owner two weeks ago during grooming and has since increased in size. - Significant history: Previous CCL surgery. - Current medications: NexGard Spectra for 12-monthly parasite prevention.- Appetite & diet: Diet is protein-restricted. Normal drinking.Vital Signs: WNLDemeanour: Bright, alert and cooperative for examination.Examination Findings:- Eyes: No abnormalities - Ears: Erect pinnae. No abnormalities.- Oral: Grade 2 dental disease- Peripheral lymph nodes: no abnormalities- Cardiovascular: no abnormalities- Respiratory, breathing: no abnormalities- Urinary/Genital: no abnormalities- Skin: A firm, decent-sized subcutaneous mass is present in the perianal region, separate from the anal gland. General skin condition is good.- Abdomen: Comfortable- Rectal examination: Anal glands were moderately full and expressed. Perianal mass palpated externally.- BCS: 5/9**Problem List:**1. Growing perianal mass.3. Full anal glands (resolved).Treatment Plan:- Surgical excision of perianal mass scheduled for 03/03/2026.- Pre-anaesthetic bloods to be performed prior to surgery.- Histopathology of the excised mass.- C5 vaccination administered- C4 + oral BB - Anal glands expressed.Client Communications: Discussed surgical plan, costs, pre-operative fasting instructions, and the importance of histopathology.  Owner consented to surgery and pre-anaesthetic bloods. Estimate and consent forms to be sent via email.- Prognosis for the perianal mass is guarded pending histopathology.
