Reason: V+D+History: George is a six-year-old male entire Cavoodle.Up to date with tick prevention and worming, received Nexgard at the beginning of the month.Owner reports vaccinations are up to date.Diet is Royal Canin Hypoallergenic and Prime100 food. Allergic to chicken.Presenting for vomiting and diarrhoea. Initially vomiting, which has increased, and has now developed brown, liquid, watery diarrhoea.Objective:- General demeanour: Bright and alert on presentation.- Temperature: 38.3°C.- Cardiovascular: Heart rate 154 bpm. Pulses normal. Mucous membranes are pink and tacky with a capillary refill time of 1-2 seconds.- Respiratory: Respiratory rate 28 breaths per minute. Effort normal.Assessment:- Acute gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarrhoea)Plan:- Admit for hospitalisation and supportive care.- Intravenous fluid therapy.- Anti-nausea medication.- Gastrointestinal protectants.- Monitor clinical response.Client communication:Discussed hospitalisation for supportive care including intravenous fluids and medication.
