Recheck for licking/chewing right forepaw. Two grass seeds were removed from this location last month (26/02/26). The patient is very sensitive in the area.
EDDU normal. No v/d/c/s. Normal energy levels.
Current medication: n/a
Parasite control: utd

EXAMINATION:
BAR
Cardio: Hno murmurs or arrythmias auscultated, both pulses strong and synchronous
Resp: panting
Integument: evidence of licking near dew claw RFL --> can see inflammation in this area and one small pin point hole
Leo will not let me assess thoroughly

ASSESSMENT:
Suspected grass seed foreign body, right forepaw - r/o residual inflammation vs new foreign body.

PLAN:
Admit for sedation + examination, then create plan
Approx $418 for sedation + examination not including meds - O aware

COMMUNICATION:
O happy with this plan.
Last ate 7:30am. O requested to check ears as well.
O aware may not find any FB but need to sedate to examine thoroughly.

Sedated 10ug/kg medetomidine and 0.2mg/kg butorphanol (0.35ml) IM = minimal sedation
Additional10ug/kg medetomidine = relaxed but will not allow foot touching
1ml alfax slow IV

Single draining tract just below R dew claw- used tiny forceps cannot find any FB/grass seed
Flushed copiously
No other draining tracts/lumps/wounds found
Ears: both ears yeasts +++ on in house cytol, neptra applied bilaterally (O cannot medicate at home)

PLAN: tgh with meloxicam PO once daily 3 days, 7 day amoxyclav course, ecollar to prevent licking, trazodone
O to watch carefully for any lumps on that leg/anywhere on the body, O aware FB may still be there and possibility of migration
