Patient Assessment: Fit for sx

Intra-op complication: light anaesthetic and sudden waking secondary to pain response. Responded well to IV topups of propofol and additional 0.1mg/kg methadone IV
Recovery: Uneventful

Surgical Record / Procedure Notes:

Routine prescrotal dog castration. Tattoo and nails.
Patient placed in dorsal recumbency. Lignocaine 0.2ml infused into each testicle. Prescrotal area clipped and surgically prepared.
A 2cm prescrotal incision was made over the right testicle and the fat stripped down. The testicle was double ligated with 2-0 PDM modified millers and transfixing. The same was repeated for the left testicle. 
No bleeding observed. 
SC tissues closed with 2-0 PDM simple continuous. 
Dermal layer closed with mono-q 3-0 intradermal continuous pattern.

The umbilical hernia clipped and surgically prepared.
A small stab incision was made into the skin just dorsal to hernia and SC tissues blunt dissected around hernia. Hernia contents fat only. Removed in entirety. Hernia ring is estimated 2mm, does not require further closure.
SC tissues closed with 2-0 PDM simple continuous. 
Dermal layer closed with mono-q 3-0 intradermal continuous pattern. 

Treatment / medications:
Carprofen given SC in recovery.

Plan: 
Home with e.collar
Wound check 10-14 days

Medication to go home with:
Carprofen to start Saturday 14/3/26 PM for 5 days
