Sent the following email: Regarding Sabella : Hi John, Thank you so much for your time on the phone this morning. As discussed, Sabella came back with an increase in two enzymes, ALP and lipase, which may be suggestive of a disease condition called Cushings Disease. In brief, Cushings Disease is a disorder of the adrenal glands which causes them to overproduce cortisol - stress hormone. Some additional information about Cushings Disease can be found at https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cushings-disease-in-dogs. If you feel that on the whole this seems to apply to Sabella, the next step would be to consider an additional blood test that is more precise for diagnosing Cushings Disease. An estimate for this blood test will follow in an email shortly. This test would involve leaving Sabella with us for a few hours to run the test. If you feel that Sabella does not fit the clinical signs for Cushings Disease, I would recommend a follow up blood test to recheck her ALP and Lipase in 1-2 months on a 12 hour fasted sample. The cost for this would be $159. In the meantime, I have dispensed some anti-inflammatory medicataion for Sabella to trial for her limping/lameness. It needs to be given once a day with a meal, at the same time each day. I would trial it for 1 week and then see if her limping has resolved after that. Please let us know if you don't think it helped her, or if the limping returned rapidly after stopping the medication. As always, we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about Sabella's health. Please call 07 3281 9622 or reply to this email if you would like to discuss further.
