Reason: Ate Chocolate CookiePresented and seen by Dr Jasmine Annan  @ 10:40pm 12/03/2026Regular Vet: Beecroft vetHistory: Ate chocolate cookies. Owner recieved as gift- home made. Unsure of amount of chocolate in them.Ingested about an hour ago, has been fine since, no V+ seen.Is generally well otherwise, EDDU and BAR. Objective: General demeanour: BARTemperature: 38.1CCardiovascular: 104, no murmur or arrhythmia, FP synchronous and adequate.Respiratory: Panting, no overt bronchovesicular sounds, normal effort, no cough/sneeze witnessed.Oral exam: CRT 1s, mms pink and moist, normal oral examAbdomen: soft, doughy abdomen, no pain elicited, no mass effect.Peripheral LNs: no enlargementEyes/Ears: clear, no dischargeIntegument: clearMusculoskeletal: normal ROMGait: Gait WNL, ambulatory in all limbs.Neurological: normal mentation, CN + CP intactRectal exam: WNLUrogenital: WNLBCS: 5/9Initial Assessment:Chocolate ingestion-- home cooked cookies unknown amount of chocolate.Client Communication:Given unknown amount of chocolate ingested- cannot be sure of toxic dose.Discussed with owner- emesis to decontaminate to avoid toxicity vs monitor at home.O happy to decontaminate.Advised owner- vomited large amount of chocolate vomits.O to give charcoal tonight and again in amTreatment:- Apomorphine 0.1mg/kg SCVomited food, chocolate vomits and bile- Metoclopramide 0.5mg/kg SC Plan:- O to give 1g/kg Activated charcoal PO tonight with a meal and again tomorrow am- monitor for any further V+, lethargy or inappetance.
