Subjective:- Owners reports cat eating soft plastic this morning - possible a square 4x4cm- Owner heard chewing on crinkly plastic, not hard plastic- Plastic described as small piece, soft, wrapping material type- No gagging observed post-ingestion- Remained active, playing with dog afterwards- Ate food post-incident- No vomiting reported- Occasional small bile vomits normallyObjective:- Physical examination: no abdominal discomfort palpated- Oral examination: no foreign material visible around tongue base- General demeanour: alert, comfortableAssessment & Plan:1. Soft plastic foreign body ingestion- Small soft plastic piece ingested, low risk for obstruction- Monitor at home vs hospitalisation discussed- Home monitoring preferred due to stress reduction- Clean litter tray daily to monitor output- Watch for vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, or behavioural changes- Return if vomiting occurs within 72hours or any concerning signs- Plastic may pass through GI tract within 3 days- Consider x-ray and bloods if vomiting develops to assess for obstruction- Cat Lax recommended for coat maintenance and regular bowel movements and can be used in this instance to move things through.Rx Catlax.Additional Notes:- Owner educated on monitoring signs: vomiting, lethargy, appetite changes, decreased play with dog- Advised to inspect faeces for plastic material as it won't break down- Reassured low risk given small soft plastic nature
