ASSESSMENT:Buddy presents for acute, non-weight bearing lameness of the right forelimb following atraumatic incident where he ran into a moving car. Examination reveals marked swellingdistal to the carpus and a pain score of 3/4 on palpation of this area. The primarysuspicion is for fractures of the right forelimb, though severe soft tissue injury (sprain)remains a differential. Radiographs demonstrated a fracture to the right metacarpal IV &V and stress fracture to MCIII. The paw was clipped and cleaned, and the deeppuncture wounds flushed with copious sterile saline. A Robert Jones bandage wasplaced under sedation. Bandage and splint care was discussed with the owner as wellas strict crate rest for 4-6 weeks to allow healing via second intention

has a pale hairless lesion on the right upper eyelid, also a slighlty moist alopecic lesion on the right side of nose at the mucocutaneous junction. Also wanted teeth checked. Mm pink and moist, crt<2Teeth ds<1/4, small amount plaque on carnassials. Disc toothbrushing and bones pros and cons.Eye lesion - had a small healed scab that lifted off with handling. THere are no wounds present and not involving the eye or eyelid margin. Looks like normal skin, just unpigmented and without hair so a lot more noticeable.Nose - impression smear showed epithelial cells only - no clumps of neutrophils or bacteria.Grazes? As no evidence of superficial infection recc monitoring for now, ring if concerned esp if getting bigger or more irritated before long weekend and EB fine to dispense a 5d cephelxin course.
