Age (years):4
Diagnosis or signs:Recheck after choking episode at AEC
Consult notes
Appointment Notes: Need to get emergency hx please. recheck after AEC visit. History:Gets fed a treat ball containing dry food and treats each evening. 6 days ago had this treat and start to gag. O says tongue turned blue. She drove to emergency whilst giving breaths into dogs nose. 'Gagging' was happening intermittently .Was not happey with AEC Frankston who saw her immediately but did not seem too concerned. Xray showed an opacity near hyoid which may or may not have been an issue. Offered referral to Moorrabbin for scop which o did. Scope found no FB, did see the treat intact in stomach and there was a dilated section of oesophagus. No perforations. Vet at Moorrabbin also commented that the owner should consdier referral for workup of BOAS as seems to have difficulties in certain positions.Has been completely normal since. Eating fine and no more noise. No vomiting. Happy in self. O commented that Darci has always snored but maybe noticing it more since last episode. O quite traumatised by it all. Examine:NSF on clinical today and lunsg clear. Throat comfortable. Discussed BOAS and work up and surgery. No noise in consult here. Apart from snoring there doesnt seem to be any other concerns.I advised that she has put on some weight which may be contributing to it all. o happy to work on losing weight and see how she goes. Requested RADs from AEC frankston to have a look at as o would like our opinion.
