Spoke to O on phone - noticed scab/ ? small wound 2 days ago. Acute onset
Then yesterday developed large swelling under the wound
Also smelly flatulence last few days. O describes as sulfurous
Otherwise well
Eating normally
Previous Hx of crusty pedal dermatitis - previous improvement on combination of prednisolone and antibiotics
Currently on Apoquel long term
Last few days statring to lick a little at the paws- esp right fore

mm cl pink - from distance - no oral exam possible- anxious dog and can bite - muzzled to examine

Focal, intra or subdermal mass/ swelling located right dorsal rump
2-3cm dia
diffuse
overlying tiny draining sinus ( <1mm ) with dried purulent exudate matted onto the fur
Not painful

Mild crusting dermatitis affecting all digits

ddx
Right dorsal rump lesion
- inflammatory / infected - focal deep pyoderma; cellulitus ; FB; traumatic vs other
- consider neoplasia less likely

Mild flareup pedal crusting dermatitis

Tx cephalexin and restart oral preds. Start low dose as previously had significant side effects from the preds - polyphagia, lethargy etc
