Itchy ears Consultation Reason: Hx: BAR, edud, no changes to this. Occasionally scratches at ears, no recent change in frequency etc. Has small 0.5-1mm skin scab lesions, suspect related to pores/hair follicles. These go away when owner applies tea tree oil. NGS utd each month Diet - dry and wet food - hills science diet. Gives a little tuna in spring water with his dry food, 1/3-1/4 of a small tin per dry meal. Hills dry/wet is 80%+ of his diet, small amount of eggs, tuna etc. PEx: Mentation: BAR BCS: 5/9 Eyes: nad, minimal clear discharge at minial canthus collecting on long hair Mouth: mm pink, moist, CRT <2s Teeth: Dental grade 0-1/4, no gingivitis, minimal discolouration, no calculus visible. Significant underbite Nose: nad Ears: nad, minimal waxy debris, hairy in horizontal ear canal but tympanic membrane visualised ok, skin of pinnae and canals not inflamed at all Chest:Clear chest, no murmurs or arrhythmias noted. No crackles or wheezes on auscultation. HR/RR wnl LNs:WNL Abdo:Soft, no organomegaly palpable Musk: nad, normal gait etc Offered cytology to rule out ear infection, discussed seems unlikley based on appearance of ears and minimal/no clinical signs so deferred today. Dispensed gentle ear cleaner for use every 1-2 weeks as needed for waxy debris. Px: Monitor ears - bring back for cytology if scarctyhing increases. Consider trialling ear plucking - to be done by groomer. Not essential but may help ears dry out faster after swimming. Monitor skin lumps - too small to FNA but bring back if they increase in size
