Reason: Itching / ScootingAppointment Notes: Overdue remindersHistory: Itch around hind end has come back once again. Owner is v frustrated as she's scooting and crying all night. Currently on cyclosporine. Had a bad flare up with Lyka recently so has gone back to her normal kibble. Liver values were v high in Dec but came down then when retested. Believed to be the steroid that caused this. Owner wants to come off the cyclosporine as feels is not benefitting her at all. Preds are the only thing that have worked for her in the past. Previously had an anal sacculectomy. Examination: BARAround ventral base of tail there is some mild inflamm of the skin. No lesions etc are present and no sign of infection or pyoderma either. No sign of any fleas or other parasites. Rest of skin/coat appears healthy too. Laboratory: Assessment: Discussed with the owner about weaning her off cyclosporine. Advised owner on reducing the dose over the next 8 weeks until fully off. Treatment: Pred 5mg. Tapering dose over next two weeks and then maintain on 1.25mg SID or less if possible.
