<html><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></html> </br><p>HISTORY<br>Presenting for: Cookie, a 1 year and 10 month old desexed female British Shorthair, presented for a 3 day history of constant sneezing and lethargy since Saturday.<br>Historical Conditions: No previous history of FURTI<br>Diet: Decreased appetite for the last 3 days, not eating as much as usual, especially reduced today<br>Drinking/Urination: Drinking normally<br>V/D/C/S: Sneezing more than 10 times per day for 3 days, constant frequency<br>Lifestyle Risk Factors: Indoor only cat, lives with another cat who appears unaffected<br>Other: Owned since 3 months of age, previously seen at Beecroft vet</p><p>EXAM<br>Mentation: <br>Wt: 4.63 kg<br>BCS: <br>T: <br>HR: 208 (elevated due to stress)<br>R: <br>MM: <br>Hydration: <br>Behavioural: Quite stressed, elevated HR, fearful and meowing<br>Eyes: Left eye appears more red in the sclera compared to the right eye<br>Ears: Normal, no abnormalities noted<br>Nose: Nasal congestion audible, very short nose with tiny nostrils consistent with brachycephalic breed, no nasal discharge<br>Throat: <br>Oral: <br>Cardiovascular: Heart sounds good, no murmurs or arrhythmias, HR 208<br>Respiratory: Lung sounds clear, no wheezes or crackles, suspected upper respiratory tract congestion<br>Abdominal: <br>Lymph Nodes: Normal<br>Integumentary: <br>Neurologic: <br>Musculoskeletal: <br>Urogenital: <br>Rectal: </p><p>ASSESSMENT<br>Upper respiratory tract congestion - suspected rhinitis which could be bacterial, inflammatory, or viral (FURTI). Less likely to be FURTI given no previous history unless exposure occurred before 3 months of age<br>Conjunctivitis - left eye showing erythema of sclera</p><p>PLAN<br>New Meds/Tx:<br>- Doxycycline paste - one notch orally once daily for 10 days<br>- Antibiotic eye drops for left eye conjunctivitis<br>- Steam therapy - place cat in carrier in bathroom with hot water running to create steam, leave for 5 minutes daily to help reduce mucus and congestion</p>
