History: About a week ago , playing with dog next door (behind the fence) and thinks banged his head on fence and there was a small wound there but now it has gotten bigger and he is scratching it and it isnt healing Definitely itchy for him Otherwise going wellNot been prone to skin issues or hot spots in the past Clinical Signs: BAR, very !, lesion is on RHS temple, near lateral canthus, is approx 5cm diameter area of pyotraumatic dermatitis, with a central possible small wound (though does not appear penetrating) , skin a little thickened- once clipped the surrounding skin looks ok Ears - not inflamed, both have mild brown waxy discharge - cytology shows occasional malassezia, no inflam cellsRest of skin (though hard to see!) appears ok Assessment: Initial small wound/scratch that has now developed a surface pyoderma, worsened over the week Appears quite irritated for Wilson Treatment: Clip and clean hexacon - Wilson was very good Apply neocrt BID for 5-7 days Cephalexin 600mg BID 7 days Macrolone 20mg SID for 3 days then 10mg SID for 4 days - discussed side effects possible E-collar next 48hrs If not settling down well will need to recheck.
