A small cut is visible on the skin over the hock. No palpable knee instability.Integument: Small cut on left and right hockNeurological: NADRectal: Temperature 39.0C, normal.Lymph Nodes: WNLDIAGNOSTICS:NonePROBLEM LIST:Left hindlimb lameness and swelling post-dog bite. Suspect bite wound cellulitis.Inter-dog aggression and anxiety.ASSESSMENT:Presented for left hindlimb lameness following a fight with another dog. Examination revealed significant swelling and a small wound over the left hock, consistent with a bite wound injury causing cellulitis. Underlying joint infection is a less likely differential. Behavioural issues including escalating aggression and anxiety were also discussed.TREATMENT:None performed in consult.PLAN:Rest for the next week. No running or swimming.Prescribed a 5-day course of anti-inflammatories and antibiotics for the bite wound.Discussed starting fluoxetine for anxiety and aggression once the current issue has resolved. This is a long-term medication with effects seen after 4-6 weeks. Potential side effects like gastrointestinal upset or agitation were discussed. Owner prefers tablets.The importance of allowing warning growls to avoid un-warned bites was discussed.Recheck consultation booked for next week on 16/03/2026 at 1:40 PM.If the swelling and lameness have not improved or have worsened at recheck, an X-ray of the hock will be recommended to rule out joint involvement.Costs for today's medications were discussed ($71.60).
