Appointment Notes: Diarrhoea for last 24 h also trying to cough GWHISTORY:Owner reports that Snoopy has had D+ and "cough" (describes retching) past 24 hours. No hx of dietary indiscretion that O's observed but a big scavenger when on walks/ dog park and occasionally chews up toys etc D+ started out just loose but was up every few hours overnight and now D+ just watery. Ate chicken and rice last night, no vomiting, O hasn't fed any breakfast this morning. Did a small watery vomit while waiting for consult. Flea/tick/worming: due now PHYSICAL EXAM: Demeanour: BARVitals: WNL CVS: regular rhythm, no murmur, SSFP.RESP: normal respiratory effort, clear bronchovesicular sounds; no crackles or wheezes.ORAL: NAD OCULAR: NADABDO: soft on palpation, only slight cranial abdominal discomfort. Begging for liver treats LNs: peripheral LN WNL.INTEG: coat clean, no visible ectoparasites.GAIT: ambulating well, no lameness observed.UROGEN: NADASSESSMENT: Acute V/D - Primary GI (gastroenteritis vs dietary (indiscretion vs intolerance) vs gastrointestinal obstruction vs Infectious [bacterial vs viral vs parasitic vs protozoal] vs IBD vs other) vs Extra-GI (pancreatitis vs toxicity vs neoplastic vs hypoadrenocorticism vs other)TREATMENT:Maropitant 1mg/kg SC Pro-kolin 2ml BID PO Bland diet and ensure water intake PLAN: Discussed further diagnostics vs trial symptomatic care first, O elected latter option. Recommended dropping off stool
