PRESENTING COMPLAINT:  
Swollen face 

HISTORY:  
No relevant history or medications.  
No D+, DUDE normally previously, no coughing or sneezing. No signs of respiratory distress.   
O noticed face was swollen and immediately presented to the clinic. 

CLINICAL FINDINGS:  
Mucous membranes pale pink and moist, capillary refill time within 1-2s. Abdominal palpation comfortable with no abnormalities detected - bladder small and soft. Respiratory rate 30bpm and effort within normal limits, without adventitious bronchovesicular sounds upon auscultation. Pulse rate (140bpm) and rhythm normal with no murmur auscultated and strong and synchronous femoral pulses. Normothermic at 38.1C. Demeanour BAR.  

Moderate facial swelling not involving neck. No stinger identified.  

PROBLEM LIST:  
Facial swelling 

DIFFERENTIALS:  
Beesting/ other -> allergic reaction/ anaphylaxis  

OPTIONS PROVIDED:   
Medical management   

DIAGNOSTIC TESTS:  
None performed  

DIAGNOSIS:  
Suspected insect bite/ sting  

TREATMENT:  
0.5mg/kg chlorpheniramine IM  

CLIENT COMMUNICATION/PLAN:  
Advised that due to absence of respiratory signs, medical management is appropriate. However if when the owner returns home they note further vomiting, lethargy or breathing issues, please represent for further investigations.   

Advised that if this is the first insect bite/ sting, then due to an immune response, they will be at higher risk for the next.

gave urine pot; O has meloxicam at home
