The owner reports that Aries has been lying in the same spot for the last four hours and did not want to get out of bed. This is unusual behaviour for him. He has also been uninterested in treats, which is not his normal behaviour. He has been observed to be drinking excessively. There has been no vomiting reported. The owner confirms the house is kept cool.Aries had an episode of colitis approximately one month ago, which resolved with Pro-Kolin. There is a history of minor skin issues, including pressure injuries, a previous wound, and warts on his leg. His diet consists of half kibble and half wet food, with an additional orange powder supplement (possibly containing rosemary). Physical examination was largely unremarkable, making it difficult to localise the problem. Given the vague clinical signs, screening blood work was recommended to investigate for underlying systemic disease. TREATMENT:  Aries was discharged into the owner's care pending blood results. PLAN:Awaiting results of in-house CBC and biochemistry panel. The owner will be contacted with the results and further recommendations. Depending on the results, the plan may involve further diagnostics or treatment. The owner can return at any time or follow up with their primary veterinarian if there is any deterioration in Aries' condition.Home into owner's care. CLIENT COMMUNICATION:Discussed the non-specific nature of Aries' signs and the difficulty in reaching a diagnosis based on history and physical exam alone. Explained that while his signs could be due to a minor, self-limiting issue like a virus, screening blood work is the best initial step to rule out more significant systemic problems. Two options were presented: proceeding with blood tests or monitoring at home. The owner was informed that in-house bloods (CBC and biochemistry) would cost approximately $515, in addition to the emergency consultation fee of $280. The owner understood the costs and provided consent to proceed with the recommended blood tests. Advised that results would be available within approximately 30 minutes.
