Phantom pregnancy and phantom urination. Will be brining in a urine sample. Very smelly. Person (Chris & Lucy) Insurance (Y - gap claim pls) Reminders () Preventatives (utd) owner: Chris and partner vet:rf **HISTORY** Owner reports: First heat cycle Christmas through mid-January (approximately 3 weeks). Started displaying phantom pregnancy symptoms in last couple of days. Nesting behaviour - jumping up, hiding in room, burrowing under pillows. Appears sad, staring at wall. Noticeable behavioural change. Still swollen around nipples. Phantom urination - squatting with only drops coming out, on and off since heat. One episode of malodorous urine approximately 2 weeks ago. One episode of possible haematuria last week. History of previous UTIs. Otherwise eating drinking, urinating and defaecating normally. No known vomiting or diarrhoea. Owner has no other concerns. Recent medication: Nil mentioned. PRIMARY PROBLEM: Phantom pregnancy symptoms and urinary signs post-oestrus. **EXAMINATION** Hydration normal, mm=pink, CRT=normal Eyes: NAD Ears: NAD Nasal exam: NAD Oral exam - Dental grade: 0 Lung auscultation: NAD, no dyspnoea present Cardiac auscultation: NAD, Heart rate appropriate and regular, no arrhythmia, HR=PR, femoral pulses strong and synchronous Murmur auscultated: No murmur present Abdominal palpation: Relaxed and comfortable on cranial abdominal palpation, no pain response Integument: NAD, non pruritic Ectoparasites: None seen, tick search negative Musculoskeletal: Orthopaedic exam nad, ambulating well Neurological assessment: Nad Lymphatic system: All peripheral lnn palpate normally with regards to size Urogenital system: Mammary development present, mild lactation noted. Hooded vulva present. Rectal palpation: None performed Anal sac: Not examined USG:1.046 Urinalysis: pH normal, no white blood cells, no protein, well concentrated. Sediment stain: No crystals, no obvious bacteria, no inflammatory cells. **ASSESSMENT**: Phantom pregnancy. No evidence of urinary tract infection on urinalysis. Possible vaginitis but not extending to upper urogenital tract. **PLAN**: Observation for 2-3 weeks. Could consider Cabergoline if phantom pregnancy symptoms worsen - would need to be ordered in. Recheck in 2 weeks. If urinary signs persist or worsen, repeat urinalysis. Follow-up urinalysis in 3 months to rule out waxing/waning UTI. Desexing discussed - can be performed from anytime from now, owner likley to wait till 18 months . Return at any stage if concerns arise.
