The owner reports soft, almost watery diarrhoea started yesterday (06/03/2026) and has become more frequent today. A single episode of vomiting occurred yesterday. There is a tinge of blood noted on the perineum after defaecation. Appetite is maintained; ate this morning. Energy levels are described as normal.Potential dietary indiscretion: was fed diced chicken yesterday that had been refrigerated since Sunday. Has eaten chicken previously without issue.Potential foreign body ingestion: chewed a plastic sticker from an avocado; fragments were found on the floor, but ingestion is unconfirmed. Examination findings are unremarkable with a soft, non-painful abdomen and stable cardiovascular status. Given the history, the primary differentials are dietary indiscretion or intestinal parasitism. Foreign body obstruction is less likely at this stage due to the lack of significant vomiting, pain, or lethargy but cannot be completely ruled out. TREATMENT:  Discharged home.- Probiotic paste prescribed to assist with diarrhoea.- Recommended deworming treatment to be administered at home, with a repeat dose in two weeks, followed by monthly prevention. PLAN:Home into owner's care.- Feed a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice) until stool is normal, then gradually transition back to regular food.- Ensure access to plenty of water.- Re-evaluation advised if vomiting recurs, especially after eating, or if lethargy or abdominal pain develops. Further investigation would be warranted in that case. CLIENT COMMUNICATION:Discussed that diarrhoea in puppies is common and often related to dietary indiscretion or parasites. Explained the rationale for symptomatic treatment with probiotics and deworming. Advised on the signs of a potential intestinal obstruction (recurrent vomiting, inappetence, lethargy, abdominal pain) and the need for immediate re-presentation if these signs occur. Instructed on feeding a bland diet and monitoring for improvement. Discussed normal puppy behaviour, including chewing, particularly around four months of age due to teething.
