Appointment Notes: Walk In. New Client First Visit. Possible Gastro -abHistory: 3 months duration on and off D+ 1-2 days duration and self-limiting, owner feeds chicken and goes away. Yesterday had D+ and today HGE - lethargic today. Dry retching but no vomiting. No bones. Mostly home cooked meats and occasionally commercial food. He eats FBs. on nexgard Owner showed me a photo of D+ today - it's very mucousy and some blood, very soft d+Exam: TPR ok although high normal. Eyes ears mouth exam NAD. skin coat ok. abdominal palpation NAD pink moist mm CRT1s. Chest clear. BARAssessment: Chronic intermittent D+ with now D+ of HGE and lethargy - suspect infectious HGE/Gastroenteritis/gastrocolitis. Other ddx include non-infectious, pancreatitis, FB, worm burden, hepatitis, toxicity, neoplasm, otherTreatment: Prevomax and metronidazolePlan:continue feeding cooked chickenOffered bloods but owner happy to treat and see - If no better or worse need to come back for investigation/work up and some cases admission to hosp, owners understood.
