Weight gain noted over past 6ish months, more pronounced in last 2 months Previously stable at 28kg for 3-4 years Currently 35.7kg (was 29kg in June 2025) Reduced exercise while with parents - daily walks but less running/ball play Extra food intake: cup of full cream milk fairly often, treats, potential double feeding between parents Grazing behaviour with other dogs' food On runs this week with Diana: slow, short sprint duration, panting for 45 minutes post-exercise Diet: Royal Canin Medium Breed Adult dry food, under 1 cup twice daily Lives with other dogs at grandparents' house Vaccinations: Parvo and Kennel Cough June 2025 Previous bloods March 2024 - relatively normal (did not test thyroid) EXAM: BAR HR 140, RR panting, Temp 39.1 BCS 7/9 Mm pink, moist, CRT <2sec LN WNL Teeth 0.5/4 NAD chest auscultation NAD abdo palp - no organomegaly, no fluid Joints feel good In house BG 4.6 ASSESSMENT: Likely overfeeding by grandparents with reduced exercise. Rule out medical causes. TREATMENT/PLAN/CLIENT EDUCATION: 1. Weight Gain Strong suspicion of overfeeding with reduced exercise while with grandparents Bloods sent for PAGR panel to rule out medical causes (thyroid, organ function, red/white cells, electrolytes) Results expected Tuesday Extra serum collected in case additional thyroid testing required Diet plan to be emailed once results confirmed normal Continue Royal Canin Medium Breed Adult, adjust portions based on treats given Low calorie treat options: frozen peas, cooked carrot (no rings - choking risk) Regular low impact exercise recommended: gentle incline walks, swimming Avoid high impact activities (flyball, frisbee) due to joint strain with extra weight Will contact Tuesday with results and diet plan 2.
