Appointment Notes: check eye L eye SubjectivePresenting Concerns:-   Albert, a 1.5-year-old male castrated Cavoodle, presented for an acute onset of squinting in the left eye. The owner reports this started approximately 10 minutes prior to the consultation.  Lifestyle Risk Factors:-   Was groomed earlier today.Emotional Assessment: SW fave  Eyes: Blepharospasm and significant conjunctival hyperaemia are present in the left eye. The right eye has mild conjunctival hyperaemia. No foreign body was visualised in either eye.   Point of Care Diagnostics:-   Fluorescein stain: A large, superficial corneal ulcer was identified in the left eye. The right eye was negative for stain uptake.AssessmentLeft traumatic corneal ulceration – A large, superficial ulcer is present, consistent with an abrasion or splash injury. The exact cause is unknown.  Bilateral conjunctivitis – Secondary to ocular irritation, more severe in the left eye.PlanPending Diagnostics:-   A recheck appointment is scheduled for Monday to restain the eye and assess healing.  Medications/Treatments:-   Antibiotic eye drops: Chlorsig Instil 1 drop into the left eye 4 times daily. The first dose was administered in the clinic. Keep refrigerated.-   Oral pain relief: Meloxicam Administer the dose for a 9 kg dog orally once daily. It must be given with a full meal.  Additional Discussion:-   Keep Albert out of direct sunlight and avoid activities like visiting the dog beach.-   The owner was advised to use an Elizabethan collar if Albert begins to rub at his eye to prevent further damage. O has one at home -   Discussed the importance of treatment to prevent the ulcer from worsening and potentially compromising the eye.-   Recommended the owner inform the groomer of the incident.
