Presenting Problem: Torn nailHistory: Presented for dew claw injury sustained during a walk/playing fetch.Ower bandaged at home and has stopped bleeding, is lame on LFL and does not like area to be touched.  Has been well at home. No vomiting or diarrhoea seen. Normal appetite- EDDU normally. No access to baits or toxins.Current medications: nilAllergies: nilObjective:General demeanour: QARTemperature: 38.0 CCardiovascular: 120, no murmur or arrhythmia, FP synchronous and adequate.Respiratory: Panting, no overt bronchovesicular sounds, normal effort, no cough/sneeze witnessed.Oral exam: CRT 1s, mms pink and moist, normal oral examAbdomen: soft, doughy abdomen, no pain elicited, no mass effect.Peripheral LNs: no enlargementEyes/Ears: clear, no dischargeIntegument: clearMusculoskeletal: normal ROM, torn LFL dew claw-- complete avulsion of nailGait: Gait WNL, ambulatory in all limbs.Neurological: normal mentation, CN + CP intactRectal exam: WNLUrogenital: WNLBCS: 5/9Assessment:Torn dew claw LFLClient communication:STO regarding the need for sedation to facilitate a thorough examination and to remove torn nail and bandage.  The O consented to the sedation plan. Treatment- Methadone 0.3mg/kg + medetomidine 0.025mg/kg IM-- furhter 0.01mg/kg Medetomidine IV Removed dew claw from LFL-- complete avulsion.Clipped and cleaned area.Applied bandage: manuka honey, primapore, melolin padding, cotton wool between digits, softban and elastoplastRevered with atipamazole IMPlan:- meloxicam 0.1mg/kg PO SID 5d- E collar on at all times - remove bandage in 1-2 days - recheck with regular vet if concerned.
