Consultation re: Infected paw

History: EDUD normal, no medications, UTD w/t/f
O concerns: Licking at paw last few days RF in interdigital space, puss observed. 

Examination: BAR - lovely nature
Eyes and ears clear
Oral exam: MM P+M, CRT 2 sec, DG 1/4 - great teeth!
LNs WNL
Thoracic auscultation: heart rate and rhythm NWL
RF paw; interdigital space between 2nd-3rd digits; erythema, moisture with puss like discharge. 

Procedure: Clipped and cleaned - no obvious swelling/ signs of FB. 

Assessment: Pyoderma vs FB, abscess, other

Plan: Keep E collar on
Soak in lukewarm salt water SID up to 10 minutes
Start amoxyclav and meloxicam course as per label
Recheck 24-48 hours following completion of abx course. 

O moved southside. Will attend local vet. EB removed reminders from system

History: Annual vac no concerns from O 
Presenting owner: F
- Normal EDDU, no V+ or D+.
- Current diet: commercial dry sensitive stomach though 
- Current medications nil 

Examine:
MM: pink, moist, CRT: 1sec
Teeth: some discoloration but no obvious tartar/dental disease 
DS: 1/4
HR:   100   , cardioresp ausc: NAD.
RR:     20
Temp:       not taken 
BCS: 5/9

Abdominal palpation: NAD. 
L.nodes NAD.


Assessment: Fit for vaccination. Had some lameness in RH a few months ago - O stopped running him/reduced exercise and it came right. On 4cyte daily, well muscled over HL, no obvious pain on rotation or thickening of stifle joints.

Treatment: KC SQ + proheart 1ml SQ

1. next C5 + proheart due March 2026
2. Continue reg bravecto and internal worming 

Revisit appointment if any deterioration, lack of improvement or failure to resolve.
