sore foot tina pls GapOnly Pet Primary Diagnosis/Suspected Diagnosis:(swollen LH digit 5 ) Suspected Cause:(? possible trauma) Any other conditions being treated, if any:(none) Known health concerns:(none) Date of first clinical signs, if known:(27/2/26) HISTORY Presenting for: Twix, a 4-year-old Greyhound, presented for left hind limb lameness of approximately one week duration, first noticed last Friday. Historical Conditions: Previous surgeries on digits in 2024, including left hind limb digit 3. History of corns. Current Meds: None at present. Other: Owner reports intermittent lameness - sometimes putting pressure on the limb, other days not. Variable appetite for walks, can be more lazy, slower to get up in mornings. Sometimes dramatic with injuries, sometimes not. EXAM Mentation: BAR Wt: 28.4 kg T: 39.2°C (mildly pyrexic) HR: 140 bpm (elevated due to nervousness, normal approximately 100 bpm) Behavioural: Nervous during examination, vocal but cooperative. Allowed examination without muzzle required. Some resistance to digit manipulation. Musculoskeletal: Left hind limb digit 3 (previously surgically treated) appears longer than others and notably swollen compared to other digits. Swelling visible on plantar and dorsal aspects. Pain on palpation of affected digit. Intermittent weight-bearing lameness observed. Lymph Nodes: Left popliteal lymph node enlarged, firm and palpable (not palpable on right side), consistent with regional inflammatory response. ASSESSMENT Left hind limb digit 3 inflammation and lameness - DDx: sprain from zoomies/twisting injury, penetrating pad wound, cellulitis, possible digit fracture. Regional lymphadenopathy secondary to inflammatory process. PLAN New Meds/Tx: - Metacam (meloxicam) liquid anti-inflammatory for pain relief and inflammation - Antibiotic tablets for one week to cover potential penetrating injury or infection - Soaking of affected foot if tolerated to help remove any foreign material Additional Discussion: - Digit fractures can take minimum one month to heal and cannot be casted - must heal naturally - Monitor for purulent discharge or worsening swelling - Return if no improvement after one week of treatment or if condition deteriorates Client Comms: - Stop anti-inflammatories and contact clinic if diarrhoea or gastrointestinal upset occurs - Recheck in one week if no improvement or if unusual discharge/increased swelling develops
