IVFT + Pain relief - check emails for Gap pre-approval Order in hepatoadvanced Nurse Admit: Presenting for hospitalisation for IV fluids and pain relief. Unwell, elevated hepatic enzymes, Abdo US booked for tomorrow. HISTORY Sore abdomen noted. Ate this morning at 06:30-07:00 - small amount of biscuit with beef (barely 1/2 cup, one decent slice). No current medications. O has glucosamine supplement but not currently administering. No previous anaesthetic reactions. Vaccinated. Has pet insurance. Stools normal yesterday, no diarrhoea. Did not defecate this morning. CLINICAL EXAM Temp 36.9 °C, Weight HR 77 bpm, RR - 44 Demeanour: Not happy, definitely not well Abdominal pain - sensitive to palpation Admit for IVFT, analgesia. Start on Hepatoadvanced once ordered in. CC: Called O - confirmed that Gabapentin was given last night & this morning. ___________________________________________________________________ IVFT started @ 89ml/hr @ 9am Medications: Buprenorphine (0.3mg/ml) @ 0.01mg/kg = 0.91ml give IV @ 9:15am PE: MM: Pink CRT: <1 sec LN: WNL HR: 88, no murmurs RR: 24 Abdo: Tensed, whining on cranial abdo palpation. Reduce pain from Wednesday. Temp: 37.4 Repeat Buprenorphine prior to discharge - Buprenorphine (0.3mg/ml) @ 0.01mg/kg = 0.91ml give IV @ 4:45pm Maropitant (10mg/ml) @ 1mg/kg = 2.7ml IV @ 4:40pm Medications: Gabapentin 300mg - Pain Relief Capsule - Previously dispensed Give 1 capsule by mouth TWICE to THREE TIMES daily, as required for pain relief. May cause mild sedation. Next dose due Thursday evening. Can give Friday morning WITHOUT food, or skip dose and notify us. Can be given with or without food, opened or whole or in a syringe with a small amount of water Hepatoadvanced Medium to Large Dog - Liver Supplement Give 1 tablet by mouth ONCE DAILY. Give on an EMPTY stomach 1 hour BEFORE food. Next dose due Thursday evening, 1 hour BEFORE a meal on an empty stomach. Plan: Please return on Friday 6th March for an abdominal ultrasound. Please FAST (no breakfast) for Charlie on Friday morning as a sedation is required to perform the ultrasound. A report will be available on Friday afternoon and all results discussed on discharge. Please encourage Charlie to eat and drink tonight, but ensure no food is given Friday morning.
