05/03/2026 Xrays of LF carpus

Swelling developed over the last 6 months. No lameness.

Current meds: Oroxine 2 tabs am and 1 tab pm - goven this morning.

PreGA exam: HR 120bpm, no murmur, lungs clear, gums pink and moist. No lameness to LF.

PreGA bloods: already done and wnl aside from mildly low HCT - rechecked today 48%.

Sedation: medetomidine 0.3mL/butorphanol 0.6mL IM - great sedation.

Anaesthetic comments: Stable sedation. Vitals wnl throughout. Atipamezole 0.3mL IM
Recovery:wnl

Xrays:
Views: L and R carpus (took contralateral limb for comparison at no extra charge) - relaxed lateral, flexed lateral and CC.
Findings: Soft tissue swelling visible over medial dorsal carpus - no bony change evident. No fractures, no bone lysis or PNB.

Very obvious mass over carpus though - irregular shape 2-3cm, firm with some softer areas. Normal haired skin overlying. Poorly defined and attached below.
Consistent with ganglion. Cannot exclude some sort of soft tissue injury but swelling seems to distinct for this.

Plan: Send off FNAs - 3 samples taken from carpal swelling today. Photo taken and saved on file (post FNA).
Await results.
No treatment required as no pain/lameness
