Compost Ingestion - Vomiting History: Yesterday at around 3pm dug up food scraps from garden and ate some. Has done this previously, usually does a few vomits then is fine. O brought in this time as vomiting has continued for more than 24 hours. Vomited 2-3 times overnight, then 3 times again today, then vomited her dinner after trying to eat this evening. Some bile vomits, this evening was mostly food content. O unsure whether Gypsy is drinking normally. No diarrhoea reported by O, though she does report audible borborygmi. No tremors or other neurological episodes reported by owner. Also drank from a puddle this afternoon, O suggested GI upset may be also because of this. In-house CBC and haematology:- All parameters WNLAssessment: Sustained emesis - ddx mycotoxicosis (non- or pre-tremorgenic) vs gastroenteritis vs other toxicosis vs adverse food reaction vs otherModerately dehydrated, concerns for reduced perfusion based on gingival colour and slightly prolonged CRT. Treatment: 1mg/kg Maropitant injection s/c between scapulae300ml subcutaneous fluids administered dorsal thorax1x 24mg Cerenia tablet SID for 4 daysPlan:Continue anti-emetic medications for 4 daysMonitor closely at home. Advised O to look out for signs of vomiting through the medications (advised may take up to an hour to reach maximal effect after receiving injection) and tremors/seizure activity.
