Patient has been observed licking the area occasionally but is not overly focused on it. Client has been preventing patient from lying in water during walks to reduce moisture exposure.Examination:Behavioural: Extremely energetic throughout examination. High activity level noted; patient was intermittently able to sit and lie down on request.Integumentary: Small superficial scratch/abrasion noted on the medial aspect of the hindlimb, consistent with a stick injury. Mild perilesional erythema noted, assessed to be resolving.Assessment:Healing superficial abrasion, medial hindlimb - Likely caused by a stick or similar object. Mild erythema present but appears to be settling. No signs of active infection at this time.Plan:New Meds/Tx:- Bathe lesion once daily with warm saline or dilute Betadine (povidone-iodine); pat dry after cleansing.- If patient becomes irritated by the lesion, client to contact clinic to arrange collection of a topical steroid cream to reduce inflammation.Client Comms:- Continue to prevent patient from lying in muddy or stagnant water to reduce infection risk.- Administer topical treatment just prior to a meal or walk to minimise licking; small amounts of Betadine ingested are not significantly harmful but should be minimised.- Monitor for signs of infection: increased swelling, pain, redness, or purulent discharge.
