The owner reports both front dewclaws are split and bleeding. He is painful and will not allow his paws to be handled.    Lifestyle Risk Factors:-   The owner reports Charlie barks excessively at other dogs when he gets overexcited.ObjectiveMentation: BAR    Emotional Assessment: —  FriendlyAssessmentFractured dewclaws - Both front dewclaws are split and require removal under sedation as the patient is too painful to tolerate manipulation.    Reactive behaviour - Owner reports excessive barking at other dogs.PlanPending Diagnostics:-   Booked for sedation and removal of both front dewclaws on Monday, 08/03/2026. Drop-off is scheduled for 8:30 am.  Medications/Treatments:-   Sedation with endotracheal intubation is recommended for airway protection due to brachycephalic conformation.-   All other nails will be trimmed during the procedure.  Additional Discussion:-   An estimate for the procedure will be emailed to the owner.-   Discussed the potential for using oral sedation for future nail trims.-   Syringes for the owner's other pet will be provided.-   This consultation was processed as 'gap only'.
