NH spoke to O who reports Shadow is continuing to improve each day and is now mostly back to her normal self.
For GIARDIA treat with febantel10mg/kg po q24h for 5 days. O to purchase Drontal for LARGE dogs (contains febantel 875mg) - give half a tablet once daily for 5 days.
Will still need to use fenpral as per DM advice for tapeworm as the drontal dosing is for giardia and not adequate to treat tapeworm.
Clostridium perfringens to be treated using the metrogyl that has already been dispensed. Rec to finish course.
Explained shadow's diarrhoea may have been caused by these infectious organisms or he is a carrier and there may be another underlying cause.
Rec to RV when back to normal self for rpt bloods, monitor TBIL, include CLP (i,e, idexx THP)
Ok to slowly transition back to usual diet. If symptoms recur consider abdo u/s +/- rpt faecal testing.
