<html><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">Please leave in amazing staff when complete</span><br>Consulting with Vet Nurse: Kat</p> <p>PRESENTING COMPLAINT: <br>- Vomiting and diarrhoea started 3 hours ago</p> <p>HISTORY:<br>- Owner returned from doctor's appointment, found solid faeces in crate<br>- Vomited once, small amount of yellow fluid, 1 piece of dry food. then diarrhoea 15 minutes later<br>- Initially lethargic but playing normally about 1 hour ago<br>- Concerned about possible ingestion of fake glass patches from deck<br>- No blood seen in faeces, yellow colour<br>- EDDU: eating puppy lamb and rice food, drinking water, yellow loose faeces, urinating normal<br>- Given carob chocolate treat today (first time whole treat, previously half)<br>- Last meal at 8AM, vomiting occurred many hours later<br>- Likes to eat leaves outside</p> <p>Current diet: puppy lamb and rice food, transitioned from breeder's food 1.5 weeks ago,</p> <p>EXAMINATION: <br>Abdo: not sore on palpation<br>hydration good<br>heart sounds NAD<br>Demeanour: BAR, bright and happy<br>Otherwise NAD</p> <p>PROBLEM LIST:<br>- Acute vomiting and diarrhoea<br>- Possible dietary indiscretion<br>- Separation anxiety</p> <p>DDx:<br>Dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal upset, partial obstruction (less likely given presentation)</p> <p>ASSESSMENT: Puppy with acute gastrointestinal upset, likely dietary indiscretion. Bright and alert with non-painful abdomen. Stomach appears empty as no breakfast brought up.</p> <p>TREATMENT in consult room/Meds dispensed:<br>- prevomax injection given<br>- Pro-kolin dispensed for home use (to be given 1 hour after injection)<br>- Gastrointestinal food dispensed for 24 hours</p> <p>VET TECH actions:<br>Generate client summary in VetNotes <br>Email handout: none needed</p> <p>PLAN:<br>- Feed gastrointestinal food only for 24 hours, then gradually transition back to normal food<br>- Give diarrhoea medication as directed<br>- Monitor for further vomiting - if occurs within 24 hours seek emergency care<br>- Some blood in faeces may occur due to straining<br>- If faeces becomes very bloody, seek emergency care<br>- Soft faeces may persist for 24 hours<br>- Work on separation anxiety with shorter intervals and varied routine, work with trainer</p> <p>Revisit recommended?
