Reason: Cut LegHistory: O came home to find him with a fresh laceration, appears to have happened as he ran through the doggy door. Bandaged by O overnight and given paracetamol last night.Examine: BAR. Normal heart sounds and rhythm and normal lung sounds on auscultationNo lamenessRemove O's bandage from RHL. The make up pad over the wound was soaked with blood, as was the surrounding hair. Slow haemorrhage from wound after the bandage was removed.Wound on the right medial stifle/proximal crus. Approx 10mm full thickness skin wound.Treatment: gently disinfect surrounding skin with dilute chlorhexidine/cetrimide solution to remove dried blood. Place small bandage (non-adhesive dressing and brown tape directly over wound area; not circumferential as the first attempts were slipping down due to leg shape)Amoxycillin 400mg BID for 4 daysParacetamol can be continued 500mg BID as required.Plan: keep bandaged for approx one week. May require follow up clinic visit for replacement of bandage, as O is going away tonight and their son will be caring for the dog.Discussed surgical repair. His last anaesthetic recovery was stressful for O and she would prefer to avoid this again.
