Reason: Rat BaitHistory:- O took Bella for walk- When returning home, then found she had a rat bait in her mouth. Unsure if ingested any. Happened approx 2 hours prior to presentation Physical Exam:BAR, mms pink and moist, CRT <2sFemoral pulses: Strong and synchronusCardiorespiratory: No murmurs or arrhythmias auscultated, clear lung fields Abdominal palpation: non-painful, no enlarged organs, masses or other abnormalities palpated No bruising, petechiation noted Discussion:- Advised O should induce emesis for decontamination. Then either1. Start prophylactic vitamin K treatment and repeat PT 72 hours after 2. Serial PT monitoring and monitoring clinical signs at home O elected option 1. Advised should still monitor for bruising, petechiation etc. If any concerns then recheck sooner Treatment:0.08mg/kg apomorphine given SC. Successfully induced emesis. Raw chicken meat and bone found in emesis (which also was red in colour...) No obv rat bait found Reversed with 0.3mg/kg metoclopramide SCPlan:Vitamin K 1.5mg/kg PO BID for 4 weeksActivated charcoal an hour later Check PT 72 hours after finishing course of Vitamin K.
