TREATMENT:- Wound cleaned with dilute chlorhexadine- E collar placedPLAN:Discharge home to owners care with antimicrobials and with chill protocol for tomorrrow's visit. DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONSPlease read through the following instructions to help guide your pet’s recovery. Do not hesitate to contact us at any time if you have any concerns or questions, and please let your vet or our client care team know if you have any questions about this information before you take your pet home today. Diagnosis:  Wounds (post surgery)Treatment Summary: - His wound has been assessed after opening post operatively. - Completed anaesthesia for debridement and stitching is recommended, until then a bandage will be placed and an e- collar used to prevet further trauma.   Exercise:Please keep your pet strictly rested for the next 5-7 days then gradually reintroduce normal activity with 10 minute on lead walks only. Wound care and management:- Your pet needs to be kept inside, confined, clean and dry (no bathing or swimming) until the wound has healed completely.  If the wound is not covered with a bandage please check it daily for signs of redness, swelling or discharge.- If your pet has been sent home with an e-collar to prevent self-trauma of the wound, this needs to stay on until the sutures are removed or the wound has healed completely.-If a bandage has been applied to your pet's leg.  Please monitor it carefully to ensure that it stays in place.  Your pet must be confined to prevent it from prematurely falling off.  It is very important that it does not get wet, as this can cause severe dermatitis under the bandage - if it accidentally gets wet please have it checked/removed by your vet immediately.  If toes are exposed, they must be checked twice daily for any swelling - if you notice swelling, if your pet changes the way it walks, or if it starts chewing at the bandage, please have it checked by your vet immediately.  Multiple bandage changes may be required while your pet is recovering, this will incur revisit and re-bandaging fees.  Recheck:Please organise a recheck for your pet with your primary care veterinarian TOMORROW NO BREAKFAST TOMORROW  Medications at discharge:- Amoxyclav 500mg: Give 1/2 tablet by mouth, TWICE daily by mouth. - Gabapentin 300mg capsules: Give ONE capsule by mouth, ONE HOUR prior to presentation to the vet- Trazodone 100mg capsules: Give ONE capsule by mouth, ONE HOUR prior to a vet visit. If your pet's condition is not improving or if other problems develop, please call your primary care veterinarian or if it is outside their normal working hours, please call Perth Vet Emergency.
