History:Sasha presented today for a health check and vaccination. Owner reports that Sasha's limping waxed and waned and now seems OK. A house sitter in the first week of January 2026 observed that Sasha was off food a little. Sasha recently vomited up some grass and a chunk of what was like bone. Still loves a walk. Just not liking the dog food. Eaten little dog food in two days, but seems keen to eat human food.. Would usually have a cup of food twice a day.Clinical signs:Eyes, ears, nose OKQARCoat OKPale gumsHR=104, no heart murmur detected.Gait normal.Peripheral lymph nodes are normal.Assessment:Possible anaemia, inappetance.Plan:No vaccination today. We need to get an understanding of why the gums are pale and why Sasha is not liking her food. Suggest full bloods.Treatment:Bloods taken and sent to Vetnostics. In house PCV/TP also ran.Laboratory:PCV/TP- 33/55--- 28/02/2026 10:48:22 PB:Phone call to owner on Saturday morning. Slight anaemia and protein at lower end of normal. T4 result has come back low at <9 (13-47), but this could all be related to some other chronic disease process. Await further blood results. Today Sasha's owners have been able to feed some human food to Sasha, but not eaten much of her kibble.Report To: MEREWETHER VET HOSP Merewether Vet Hospital 25 Llewellyn St MEREWETHER 2291Patient: Name: SENSE, SASHA MEREWETHER VET HOSPITAL 2 MEREWETHER 2291 Phone: DOB: N/A Age: 9 years Sex: Female Species: CanineRequest Details: Lab Ref: 26-15914199 Your Ref: V387316 Collection: 27/02/26 00:00 Ref. by MEREWETHER VET HOSPTests requested: VHB*,TT4 (* = pending)Clin notes: Species: Canine,rottweiler,9y5m,fn.Report: TOTAL T4 Total T4 < 9* nmol/L (13-47) VETNOSTICS COMMENT Please note that low total T4 in isolation is a non-specific finding and is not diagnostic for hypothyroidism. The most common cause of decreased T4 concentration is euthyroid sick syndrome. Further tests of thyroid function include TSH assay and free T4 by ED (equilibrium dialysis) if hypothyroidism is a differential diagnosis.
