Reason: Lump / Ear / VaccSubjective:- Periodic infections.- Diet concerns regarding weight management.- Last vaccination in June, C5.Objective:- Weight management discussed. Dog may have a non-forgiving metabolism.- Explained ear anatomy (L-shaped canal) and demonstrated proper technique for administering ear medication by pulling the ear up to straighten the canal.- Administered C5 vaccination. This year's protocol is a split injection.- The injectable component is C4 (parainfluenza and C3 for distemper, hepatitis, and parvovirus) which is licensed for a 3 year interval.- The oral component is for the other part of kennel cough and remains yearly.Assessment: & Plan:1. Weight Management- Assessment: May have a slow metabolism, leading to weight gain.- Plan: Recommended reducing current diet by 20%. If remains too hungry, consider transitioning to a low-calorie commercial diet.2. Parasite Control- Assessment: At risk of tapeworm.- Plan: Discussed tapeworm treatment. Recommended treating every 3 months to cover the pre-patent period and prevent shedding of eggs. Fenepril was offered at $23.75 for 6 months supply (1.5 tablets every 3 months).
