Stool with blood this morning Did vomit yesterday (no blood, just grass) HISTORY Presenting for: Arlo presented for gastric upset with vomiting and diarrhoea, with blood noted in faeces for the first time. Historical Conditions: Previous episodes of gastric upset but without blood. Recent blood test showed low thyroid levels, though this may have been affected by concurrent gastric upset. Chronic itching possibly related to thyroid dysfunction. V/D/C/S: Vomiting yesterday (grass material). Diarrhoea with blood present. Previous episodes of gastric upset associated with rainy weather. Other: Lives with another dog (Enzo) who is not affected. Arlo tends to lick grass during walks, unlike the other dog. EXAM squelchy intestines mild pain on abdo palpation hydrated currently chest nad ASSESSMENT Colitis - likely secondary to dietary indiscretion and bacterial overgrowth associated with recent wet weather. Blood in faeces indicates large intestinal inflammation. PLAN New Meds/Tx: - Anti-nausea injection administered today - prevomax - Metrobactin prescribed to settle diarrhoea - 250mg bid for 5 days - Discussed that thyroid results from previous blood test likely inaccurate due to concurrent illness affecting thyroid levels - Advised that household dog unlikely to be affected as not all dogs in household typically affected simultaneously
