The owner reports the stool consistency has progressed from yellow to blackish and is now watery. Defecation frequency has increased to 4-5 times overnight. A single episode of vomiting (yellow fluid, white phlegm) occurred on the first day, but none in the last 24 hours. The owner notes perianal irritation from frequent wiping. A friend walked Baxter around the streets last Thursday. The owner is concerned about potentially reduced water intake. Baxter remains bright and active.Acute diarrhoea for 3-4 days, worsening to watery consistency. Vomiting resolved >24 hours ago. Increased defecation frequency.Examination: TRPH normal. HR - 124T - 38.4Oral exam - grade 1Ears, eyes and skin normalNo indication of ear mitesAbdo palpation normal soft and comfortable.Rectal examination perianal irritation noted.Peripheral ln’s normalDemeanour: Bright, alert and active.Bright and afebrile 2-year-old dog with a 3-4 day history of acute, progressive diarrhoea. Clinical signs and a non-painful abdomen are most consistent with infectious gastroenteritis or dietary indiscretion. Foreign body obstruction is a less likely differential given the patient's current demeanour. Mild dental disease and overdue parasite prevention were also identified.Treatment:Dispense Pro-KolinCommunication: Discussed likely causes (gastroenteritis) and advised on signs of deterioration (persistent vomiting, lethargy) that would warrant further diagnostics (blood tests, X-rays).Explained treatment plan and home care.Advised clinic will call tomorrow for Pro-Kolin collection.Scheduled a nurse follow-up call for Thurs/Fri.Discussed dental health, recommending 12-monthly dental check-ups.
