**HISTORY**

Owner reports: Vomiting started night before last, 2-3 episodes, last episode yellow bile/stomach bile. Ate in morning and was okay. Last night vomited again then diarrhoea before bed. This morning diarrhoea a couple of times. No vomiting since last night. Minimal food intake today - small amount of egg only. Blood in stool - gelatinous diarrhoea with bright red blood. Photos and faecal sample brought in. Ate significant amount of turkey night before last (kids feeding her). Possible plant/seed pod ingestion at office day prior to vomiting onset. Known poultry intolerance - causes skin flare-ups/candida. Currently being treated for ear infection with Seroquel drops - improving.

Otherwise eating drinking, urinating and defaecating normally, No known vomiting or diarrhoea

Owner has no other concerns

PRIMARY PROBLEM: Vomiting and diarrhoea with haematochezia

**EXAMINATION**

Hydration normal, mm=pink, CRT=normal
Eyes: NAD
Ears: ear infection present, currently being treated
Nasal exam: NAD

Oral exam
- Dental grade: not assessed
- Dental conformation: not assessed

Lung auscultation: NAD, no dyspnoea present
Cardiac auscultation: NAD, Heart rate appropriate and regular, no arrhythmia, HR=PR, femoral pulses strong and synchronous
Murmur auscultated: no murmur present
Abdominal palpation: relaxed and comfortable on cranial abdominal palpation, no pain response
Integument: NAD, non pruritic
Ectoparasites: none seen, tick search negative
Musculoskeletal: orthopaedic exam nad, ambulating well
Neurological assessment: nad
Lymphatic system: all peripheral lnn palpate normally with regards to size
Urogenital system: NAD
Rectal palpation: none performed
Anal sac: not examined

Temperature: normal
Weight: 5.3 kg

**ASSESSMENT**: Colitis - likely secondary to turkey ingestion given known poultry intolerance. Clinical signs consistent with large bowel inflammation. Foreign body obstruction considered unlikely given history. Viral gastroenteritis possible but less likely given likely dietary trigger identified.

**PLAN**:
- Anti-nausea injection administered (controls nausea and vomiting for 24 hours, provides intestinal comfort)
- Probiotic binding paste: 2ml PO BID for 5 days - can mix in food or syringe directly
- Bland diet: boiled kangaroo and white rice only (avoid poultry)
- No treats
- Return tomorrow if not improving - may require hospitalisation, IV fluids, blood work,imaging
- Ear recheck in approximately 1 week - already booked
- Faecal testing not indicated given likely dietary trigger identified
