No scratching observed during ear examination.- Skin appears dry.groomers noted ears a bit pink but owners haven't noted any issues Examination:- Dental: Grade 2/4 tartar on the upper canine teeth with associated mild gingivitis.- Oral mucosa: pink.- Ears: Waxy discharge noted bilaterally. Canals are hairy. A yeasty odour is present. No signs of pain or pruritus on examination.- Skin/coat: Mildly dry coat.Laboratory:- Ear cytology: Malassezia yeast identified in samples from both ears.low numbersAssessment:1. Bilateral otitis externa- Malassezia overgrowth.2. Dental disease- Mild tartar and gingivitis.Treatment:- Ear medication containing an antifungal to be administered as one squirt into each ear, once daily.easotic - Ear cleaning performed in consult.Plan:- Continue ear treatment for a minimum of five days. If signs have not resolved, continue treatment and return for a recheck. Advised to wipe the nozzle between ears.- Advised to commence regular tooth brushing at home with dog toothpaste to manage tartar build-up on the upper canines.- Recommended using a conditioner after washing to help with dry skin.- A full dental scale and polish under general anaesthesia may be required in the future if tartar progresses.
